Temporary suspensions

What is a temporary service suspension?

What to expect during a temporary suspension for my Bell service.

You can choose to suspend each of your TV, Internet and Home phone services between one and six months. Simply visit MyBell and place your request online.

To suspend your monthly Bell Mobility service, please contact us. (Does not apply to prepaid service.)

Note: Suspending your Internet or Home phone service could impact your alarm system. Please check with your alarm company before suspending any services.

What to expect

Home phone

You will not be able to make or receive calls. Callers will hear that the number is out of service.

Your long distance plan will also be deactivated. If the long distance plan you currently subscribe to is no longer available when you resume your service, you will need to subscribe to a new plan.

You can still use your calling card to make calls but the basic long distance rates will apply.

Internet

You will no longer be able to access the Internet with your Bell Internet connection. Fibe TV will also be suspended and your personal web space will be deactivated.

You can still access your Bell email from another Internet connection.

Monthly rental charges will still apply as per the terms of service.

Fibe, Satellite and Fibe TV app

You will not have access to your TV programming and scheduled recordings will not be recorded.

Monthly rental and premium sports channel (NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.) charges will still apply as per the terms of service.

Mobility

You will not be able to make or receive calls (except 9-1-1 calls), or send or receive text messages. You will also not be able to use mobile services on linked devices, such as NumberShare wearable devices.

Prepaid customers cannot temporarily suspend their services. If you lost your prepaid phone, see how to replace a lost mobile phone.

  2. Select Continue.
  3. Validate that the information on the page is correct and select Submit.
If you cancelled your suspension:
  • Allow 24–48 hours for your services to be reactivated.
  • Make sure all devices are plugged in 24 hours beforehand.

Note: Plug in your satellite TV receivers one day before your scheduled reactivation (if you didn’t leave them plugged in) so that they can communicate with the service reactivation system. If your channels don’t return after you reactivated your service, try to synchronize your programming.
