How to activate and install McAfee Security from Bell

Downloading McAfee Security from Bell

To activate McAfee® Security from Bell, you must download and install it on your home computer.

Download McAfee

Uninstall any existing antivirus software before installing McAfee® Security from Bell.

  1. Sign in to the McAfee My Account dashboard using your MyBell log in information.
    • Have your MyBell username and password ready.
    • The McAfee Security My Account dashboard opens in a new window once you have logged in to MyBell .
      (If the page does not open, check your browser pop-up settings).
  2. From the Select device type drop-down menu, select Windows PC/Mac .
  3. Select DOWNLOAD to install McAfee on your current computer or select SEND LINK to install it on another one.
  4. Read and review the McAfee licence agreement and Privacy notice. Touch Accept and Download when you’re ready.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the installation process.

To activate McAfee® Security from Bell, follow the steps below. You’ll receive an email or text message with an activation link so you can install McAfee on your Android device.
Uninstall any existing antivirus software before installing McAfee Security from Bell.

  1. Sign in to the McAfee My Account dashboard using your existing MyBell log in information
    • Have your MyBell username and password ready.
    • The McAfee Security My Account dashboard opens in a new window once you have logged in to MyBell.
      (If the page does not open, check your browser pop-up settings).
  2. From the Select device type drop-down menu, select Mobile.
    If Mobile does not appear in the drop-down menu, you might have a subscription to the Good package. Check the Select subscription drop-down menu to confirm. If you’re subscribed to Good, you 'll need to upgrade to Best or Better to get mobile protection.
  3. Scroll down to and select Send Link.
  4. Enter an email address and select Email Me. Alternatively, select the SMS tab, enter your mobile number and select Text me .
  5. Open the email or text message from McAfee with the mobile device you want to install the app on and touch Protect me.
  6. Note the code as you’ll be asked for it later. Touch Download when ready.
  7. Install McAfee security: Antivirus VPN from the Play or app store when asked.
  8. Once downloaded, touch Open to launch the application.

Setting up your account for the first time.

When setting up McAfee for the first time, you’ll need to create a username and password. If you’ ve already created an account, scroll below to Adding devices for the next steps.

  1. Read and review the McAfee licence and Privacy notice agreement. Touch Accept and continue when ready.
  2. Touch Got an activation code?
  3. Insert the code captured in step 6 and touch Next.
  4. You’ll be asked to create a McAfee account using your email address as the username. You’ll also need to create a password; it should be different from the one you use for your email account. Touch Create my account when ready.
  5. Your account is now created. Follow the instructions to protect your mobile device.

 

Adding devices

Once you have a McAfee account, follow the steps below to add devices.

  1. Touch Accept and continue when ready.
  2. Touch Continue.
  3. Enter your password and touch Sign in.
  4. Touch Allow to have McAfee send you notifications.
  5. Follow the instructions to protect your mobile device.

 

Mac OS

  1. Open Finder.
  2. In the Go menu, select Applications.
  3. Double-click the uninstaller McAfee Internet Security.
  4. Check the box beside Uninstall SiteAdvisor, if required.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Enter your computer’s admin password and click OK.
  7. Click Finish.

You can also uninstall all McAfee software using the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool (Windows only) To do so:

  1. Download the MCPR tool and save it to a folder on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe.
  3. When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.
  4. At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next.
  5. Click Next to accept the license agreement.
  6. When prompted, type the CAPTCHA information, which is case sensitive, and then click Next.
  7. When you see the message Clean Up Successful, restart your computer. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until you have restarted.

Mobile device

To uninstall on your mobile device. Swipe up from the home screen to view your applications.

Scroll and locate McAfee security: Antivirus VPN application. Press and hold the icon until the option to uninstall the app appears. Once you have uninstalled the app, activate any prior or default protection offer by your device manufacturer.
