Measure the performance of
your Internet connection
Find your current maximum download and upload speeds.
For the most accurate results
The speed test measures download and upload speeds, ping and jitter.
As a rule, Wi-Fi devices, especially if they’re located further away from the modem, tend to be slower than wired devices. Performance will also vary from device to device.
- Use a trusted browser, such as Google Chrome.
- Disconnect other devices before running your test, and make sure no other applications are running.
- Disconnect Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections, as they can influence speeds negatively.
- Stand next to your modem to reduce interference from other devices and electronics.
- To achieve the best results, connect your device via a wired Ethernet connection.
How to read the results
The results indicate the performance of the Internet connection between your device and the speed test server.
Ping
How quickly your device gets a response after you've sent a request. Measured in milliseconds (ms).
Jitter
How ping varies over time. A high jitter can result in buffering and other interruptions. Measured in milliseconds (ms).
Download
How quickly you pull data from a server on the Internet to your device. Measured in megabits per second (Mbps).
Upload
How quickly you send data from your device to the Internet such as uploading files or video chatting. Measured in megabits per second (Mbps).
