How to use Call Answer Manager on my Bell Home phone

Call Answer Message Manager offers all the features of Call Answer as well as the ability to screen messages while they’re being left, additional mailboxes, Pager Notification and Toll Saver

  1. Dial *98 and enter your password.
  2. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 1, 2.

  2. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 9.
  3. Enter the extension mailbox number (1, 2, or 3). The system will assign a password, which you can keep or change by following the voice prompts.
  4. Record the extension mailbox user name. Press #, #.
  5. Follow the prompts to select or record a greeting.
  6. Press * to exit.

Note: You may want to record a greeting for the main mailbox that mentions each user's name and mailbox number.

  1. Dial *98 and enter the password for the desired mailbox.
  2. Follow the prompts to retrieve your messages.

If you want to check another message without hanging up:

  1. Press * to return to the main menu.
  2. Press 5, followed by #.
  3. Enter the mailbox number and your password.

Call Answer Message Manager allows you to save your messages for 45 days

Per-use charges apply or you can add Call Answer Message Manager to your monthly phone services. To learn more or subscribe:

  1. From home, dial *98 or the access code we assigned you. If away from home, your mailbox number is your 10-digit home telephone number.
  2. When prompted, enter your temporary password. This is your 7-digit telephone number (no area code).
  3. Follow the prompts to change the temporary password to a new one. It should be 4 to 15 digits and cannot start with 0.
  4. Follow the prompts to record your name or telephone number as a personal identification.
  5. Follow the prompts to record a personal greeting that callers will hear or select the pre-recorded greeting.
  6. Press the * key to exit. Your Call Answer Message Manager is now activated.
  • After the short ring, pick up the receiver and listen.
  • Press the switchhook, Link, or flash button to intercept the message and speak to the caller.
  • Hang up to let the service record the message.

You have a message when:

  • You hear an intermittent dial tone from the receiver.
  • Your phone’s message indicator is flashing (some models/most areas).

To retrieve messages from home:

  1. Dial *98 or your access code.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Follow the prompts to retrieve your messages.

To retrieve messages from another phone within your area code:

  1. Dial your telephone number.
  2. When you hear your greeting, press 9 immediately.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Follow the prompts to retrieve your messages.

To check messages while outside your area code:

  1. Dial 1 877 BELL-777 (1 877 235-5777) from anywhere in Canada.
  2. Follow the prompts to enter your 10-digit telephone number and your password.

If the area you’re calling from is long distance to your home, Toll Saver allows you to minimize long distance charges.

  1. Before leaving home, dial *97.
  2. Hang up after 2 beeps.
  1. Dial your home number. If there are no new messages, Call Answer Message Manager will pick up after the 4th ring.
  2. To avoid long distance charges, hang up before the end of the 4th ring.
  3. If there are new messages, Call Answer Message Manager will pick up after the 2nd ring
  4. To listen to the messages, press 9 when you hear your greeting and enter your voicemail password

Upon returning home, dial *97 and hang up after 4 beeps.

Note: Be sure to deactivate Toll Saver when you return home or Call Answer Message Manager will continue to pick up after only 2 rings when there are new messages waiting. Once Toll Saver is deactivated Call Answer Message Manager reverts to the number of rings you originally programmed.

You can program Call Answer Message Manager to notify your pager when you have voicemail. To program or change the message notification schedule:

  1. Dial *98 and enter your password.
  2. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 4.
  3. Follow the instructions for entering your pager number, notification schedule and other preferences.
  4. Press 1, 1 when prompted to turn on Outcall Notification.

For example: To be notified between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., enter the times as follows: 1000 then 1 for a.m. and 330 then 2 for p.m. To be notified 24 hours a day, enter 1200 then 1 (for a.m.) and 1200 then 1 (for a.m.).
